Designing the opening event for the International Colloquium of the Cultural Spaces and Design Education Program to foster encounter and dialog.
Output Designing of a unique picnic blanket featuring photos of objects commonly found in the bathrooms of participants of the program feat. cultural spaces in Botswana, India, Australia and Switzerland. The design incorporates the theme of water, reflecting the integral role it plays in the international research workshops.
Each object on the blanket is accompanied by a swiss brunch dish. During the brunch, participants select a dish and cut out the corresponding part of the blanket serving them as a napkin. To enjoy the whole meal people have to share and engage with one another.
This approach on food design facilitates initial exchanges and fosters new connections among the participants of the program, which focuses on Applied Intercultural Design Research and explores the impact of globalization on design and design education.
