An experimental installation that connects communal bathing culture with the exhibition‘s topic “The Touch of Things”.
Output
What can be more intimate than the act of internalizing? The pleasurable consumption, the daily assimilation of food and drinks? In this installation, Baden’s thermal water is transformed into popsicles. By freezing the water, the ritual of ingestion is slowed down, thus increasing the mindfulness of the moment. The work is dedicated to the act of massaging and touching: massaging the oral cavity, activating the tongue, and finally swallowing. But also thinking and experiencing the alienation of its form and using it as a melting massaging object. The concept is inspired by the once widespread drinking cures and modern thermal drinking fountains. As the water makes its way from a depth of 2000 meters to the Earth’s surface, it absorbs minerals that give it its healing properties.
